TIRE CARE
Goodyear drag
tires should not be stored near high temperature, in direct sunlight, around welding
areas, in overhead garage areas where temperatures may reach 100 deg. F and
higher, or around high voltage electric motors.
AT THE TRACK
1)
Tires involved in a car fire should not be re-used under any
circumstances. The extent of damage from
fire cannot be determined, even by trained professionals.
2)
Screwing tires to the rim: see Wheel Rim Screwing
Procedures.
3)
With today’s soft drag compounds shorter burnouts are
possible which increase tire life.
4)
Tires may be reversed for longer life. This may especially
be true for radial stock tires.
5)
Tires can be cleaned with “Armor-All” or similar cleaner.
Brake cleaners are not recommended.
6)
Due
to their thin sidewalls use care in minimizing contact with the sidewall and
abrasive surfaces during storage and handling.

DIRECTIONS FOR ROTATION
All Goodyear racing tires have an 8 digit serial code. When
mounting rear drag tires, this serial should face the right side of the car. In
other words, the code will be outboard on the passenger side and inboard on the
driver’s side. On the front tires, the serial should face the left side of the
car. To extend tread life, tires should be rotated, depending on the horsepower,
from every two weekends of racing to every pass as in the case of PRO
STOCK cars.
